Application Overview SCANAudit was developed to facilitate the collection of documentation to support reverse sales and use tax audit petitions. The actual column heading may be altered to accommodate the collection of other types of data. This program is appropriate for use in situations where the documentation of a given spreadsheet entry is desired. A link is provided directly within the spreadsheet which allows documentation to be instantly retrieved. SCANAudit is a MS Windows® application that captures electronic images of paper documents such as invoices and receipts, these electronic images are automatically cataloged in a database at scan time. The data contained within these electronic images can be manually keyed, when the paper documents are scanned or they may be entered at a later time. After completion of the data entry function an MS Excel® spreadsheet can be automatically generated detailing and summarizing data captured. Each row in this spreadsheet contains detailed information of each scanned record. This information also contains a link to the electronic image for reference and is easily viewed by clicking on the link. Currency amounts are also automatically totaled. SCANAudit provides a method to collect paper information, convert it to electronic information then summarize and archive the electronic information in a meaningful way automatically.
